Porcelain

In the sky-harbor of Waraku, Governor Tadasu's word is law. His soldiers patrol the docks. His handmaids track every door. His daughter Saeko rakes sand in a dead woman's garden and does not leave the compound without permission. She has been leaving without permission for two months. His name is Seijiro. He has a rented room in the lower quarter, a laugh that makes her reckless, and a door that doesn't lock. She has never asked what he does for a living. The attack bells start before dawn. The harbor is burning and her adventure is about to begin.
